Monet

A timber framed house in Beuvron
We left Paris early so we could get to Monet's Garden in time to avoid the crowds.  There were busloads of elderly tourists there, but it wasn't too bad. It is an absolute delight. Monet bought the house and land at Giverny in 1890 and set about planting the gardens and lily pond that he wanted to paint. The house and contents appear to be original, and there are many unfinished paintings hanging in the room he painted in. The garden was beautiful.

We had lunch at Beuvron which at some stage was voted the most beautiful village in France, due mainly to the timber framed houses I think. The drive from Beuvron to our accommodation at Fresne la Mere was through beautiful rolling hills and forests of not sure what trees, along the Cider Route.

We stayed at a great b&b, and I had pre-arranged for us to have dinner there cooked by the owner and former chef Peter. It was absolutely delicious.
